The injections can cause minimal pain and discomfort and make it easy to return to normal activities.  Dysport is among best-known drug in the treatment of wrinkles and deliver a natural look.

How Dysport injection works?

Dysport is chemically Botulinum toxin type A, which has the excellent capacity to paralyze muscles temporarily. It is a neurotoxin that has shown positive effects to paralyze muscles to which it is injected. The medicine is available in the form of injection. Dysport paralyzes that particular muscle with its neurotoxic capacity which enables the muscle to relax.

As the muscle relaxes the wrinkles reduce and it also has been found effective to make the head position in a better way. The medicine has effective treatments for cervical dystonia, which gives quick comfort and relief from the pain. Dysport reduces the severity of lines while maintaining the untreated muscles so you can have natural expressions.

The Dysport treatment

Dysport acts as an acetylcholine release inhibitor and a neuromuscular blocker, causing relaxation of muscle and decrease in wrinkles. The effect of the drug remains active for 3-6 months and the dosage is modified according to treatment area. Normally, 40-100 units of the drug are prescribed as the first dose. The total dose is divided amongst the affected muscles of the face, and the injection is given superficially. The effect of the medication reduces over time and needs to be repeated after every 3-6 months or longer depending on the response of the patient.

The Working Mechanism of Dysport

Dysport is injected in between and over the eyebrows to reduce forehead wrinkles. The entire process takes place within 15 minutes . The injected solution temporarily weakens the muscle by blocking nerve signals to the muscles. There is a drastic reduction in the activity of the muscle, which prevents any muscular contraction. Lesser movements in the muscles check the formation of dynamic lines. The working mechanism of Dysport imitates that of Botox – they both freeze facial muscles on a temporary basis. Hence, it can be seen as a good alternative to Botox.

Are Dysport and Botox Interchangeable?

The answer is no. Even though Dysport and Botox are made from the same neurotoxin, their dosages are different. The target area of Dysport is between the eyebrow, whereas Botox works for reducing wrinkles in the forehead, mouth and eye area. There is also a new procedure that botox injection used for nose lift. Botox vs Dysport is like choosing between Coke and Pepsi, it’s all about your preference and which one last longer for you.
